Video Competitions

NOTE: DEADLINE FOR VIDEO ENTRIES HAS BEEN EXTENDED TO DECEMBER 11.

Eligibility

  • Open to active Phi Theta Kappa members only. Members may enter as an Individual or as part of a Chapter. Only one entry per Individual or Chapter. Additional submissions by the same Individual or Chapter will be removed from competition.

Individual Category

  • Review the current I AM PTK campaign at ptk.org/toolkit and create a :30 to :60 engaging video illustrating what I AM PTK means to you.

Individual Category Prizes

  • First Place: $500 and recognition pin
  • Second Place: $250 and recognition pin
  • Third Place: $100 and recognition pin

Chapter Team Category

  • Create an engaging video up to :90 that promotes the benefits of membership in PTK.

Chapter Category Prizes

  • First Place: $500 and recognition pin(s)
  • Second Place: $250 and recognition pin(s)
  • Third Place: $100 and recognition pin(s)

Dates & Deadlines

  • Submission Deadline: December 11
  • Judging: December 12-15
  • Winners announced: January 2018

Judging
Videos will be judged by a panel of Phi Theta Kappa staff and design, film and media industry professionals on the following criteria:

  • Creativity
  • Engagement
  • Clarity of message
  • Representation of theme
  • Good production quality

Official Rules

  • By submitting an entry, the Individual or Chapter agrees to all Official Rules outlined herein.
  • Only one entry per Individual or Chapter.  Additional submissions by the same Individual or Chapter will be removed from competition.
  • If entering the Chapter Category, the Chapter Advisor must be listed on the application as the Chapter contact.
  • All videos must be
    • In one of the following video types: .avi, .mov, .mpg, .mp4, .mpeg or.wmv
    • No more than :60 in length for the Individual Category and :90 for the Chapter Category
    • The Individual’s or Chapter’s original creation
    • Uploaded to YouTube and the unique URL included on the official submission form. Entrants are reminded that by uploading their Submission to YouTube, they are subject to the specific Terms of Service and Privacy policies of YouTube.
  • Videos must not
    • Have won previous awards
    • Have been previously published
    • Infringe on any third-party rights
  • Entrants must keep an original copy of the video.
  • Each entrant is solely responsible for the information, data, text, software, music, sound, photographs, graphics, video, messages, tags, and other materials included in the Submission, whether publicly posted or privately transmitted. A Submission must be original and the entrant must (1) hold all necessary rights to all the materials, images, music, videos, graphics and information in the Submission or (2) have permission from the holder of such rights, or (3) the materials, images, music, videos, graphics and information in the Submission must be in the public domain. Winners will have to ensure that they have all rights necessary to permit them to transfer ownership of the video, including transfer of any permissions and rights obtained from third parties, to Phi Theta Kappa.
  • A Submission may not contain offensive, libelous, sexually explicit, disparaging or other inappropriate content and may not defame or otherwise violate the rights, copyrights, trademarks, or rights of publicity, privacy, or reputation of any third party.
