Excellence in Community College Transfer Honor Roll

Phi Theta Kappa recognizes the importance of your institutional commitment and investment of resources to support community college transfer. To honor excellence and success in community college transfer pathway development, we invite you to participate in our national recognition program, the Phi Theta Kappa Transfer Honor Roll to showcase your institution's best practices.

Open to all regionally accredited baccalaureate degree-granting institutions, participating institutions must complete an application detailing their pre- and post- community college tranfer programs and will be evaluated on their institutional partnerships, community college outreach and transfer innovations. The ranked institutions will receive national recognition and a press kit to promote their achievements.

About Transfer Honor Roll

Phi Theta Kappa recognizes the importance of your institutional commitment and investment of resources to support community college transfer. To honor excellence in community college transfer pathways and success, we invite you to participate in our national recognition program, the Phi Theta Kappa Transfer Honor Roll, to showcase your institution’s best-practices.


Eligibility

All regionally accredited four-year degree granting institutions who admit transfer students a minimum of once annually are eligible to apply and will be evaluated in five areas.


Areas of Evaluation

Based on the latest research regarding supporting community college transfer students, the following five categories are included in the application:

  1. Institutional Partnerships & Community College Collaboration
  2. Pre-Transfer Institutional Support: Outreach, Admissions, & Access
  3. Post-Transfer Student Engagement & Support
  4. Community College Data Tracking & Institutional Priorities
  5. Transfer Innovations

Application Process

Any eligible institution can submit the application. It is free and confidential to apply. Please submit your completed application no later than 5:00 pm CT, December 1, 2017. For information or questions email ptktransferhonors@ptk.org.


Judging

The judges include a panel of two-year, four-year and higher education experts in transfer. Adjustments are made to accommodate for size of institution, student enrollment and geographic limitations. The top scoring applications are recognized as the Phi Theta Kappa Transfer Honor Roll, for excellence in supporting community college transfer for that year.


Benefits Received

Winners of the Phi Theta Kappa Transfer Honors Seal will be notified January 2018.

The top scoring institutions will receive the following:

  • Phi Theta Kappa Transfer Honor Roll Award Press Kit
  • National recognition through various media channels
  • Phi Theta Kappa Transfer Honor Roll Seal for marketing and promotion
  • Inclusion and recognition as a 2018 Phi Theta Kappa Partner in Excellence
  • Phi Theta Kappa website, press release and social media acknowledgement
  • Commemorative award and certificate of recognition

With a 92% student success rate, Phi Theta Kappa members have a proven track record of success. Our members transfer at a much higher rate (72%) than the traditional community college student (29%). In order to ensure their continued success, the Transfer Honor Roll Program identifies colleges and universities that understand the unique needs of community college transfer students and applauds the dynamic pathways these colleges have created to continue fostering student success at the four-year college.
