Casey Romero-Tobia, Division I International Vice President, is a member of Alpha Epsilon Omicron Chapter, Trident Technical College, in Charleston, South Carolina.
Casey is seeking her associate of arts and associate of science degrees and plans to major in History upon transferring to a four-year university. She hopes to earn her Master's in Library Science with a concentration in archiving and document preservation and would like to one day work at a major museum or library.
Casey chose a community college because she was returning to school several years after leaving a university. She was unsure of her ability to re-enter academic life and found a smoother transition back into the college community at Trident Technical College.
She saw the work being done by her local Phi Theta Kappa chapter and felt drawn to participate. She served as both a chapter and regional officer before serving as her chapter's president - roles she said prepared her for serving as an International Officer. She also has completed requirements for Level Five in the Five Star Competitive Edge.
Having previously attended a university, Casey knew that college completion was and still is a challenge for students - community college students, in particular. Many community college students are non-traditional students who often have family and work obligations competing for their time and attention.
Casey has received the Sharon and William Asbill Associate in Arts and Science Scholarship, the Barr-Green Scholarship, the Trident Technical College Foundation Scholarship and the Trident Technical College Foundation Phi Theta Kappa Scholarship.
