Join KAB Efforts to "Wipe Out Wireless Waste"
More than 125 million wireless phones are being discarded every year, and that means over 65,000 tons of wireless waste. Many old phones, even phones that are turned in to recycling drives, often still wind up in landfills. That's why Keep America Beautiful, Phi Theta Kappa's International Service Program partner, has joined with Sprint Nextel and ReCellular to create "Wipe Out Wireless Waste" - a zero waste solution to ease the growing electronics waste problem, and to raise funds for environmental and community improvement projects nationwide. By recycling your own phones, and collecting them from friends, classmates, and others in your community, Phi Theta Kappa members can be part of the solution! Visit the Keep America Beautiful website and click on the "Wipe Out Wireless Waste" banner. Print the postage paid reply label and mail discarded phones to Keep America Beautiful. KAB will receive all proceeds, which will be channeled directly into litter prevention, waste reduction, and beautification projects in communities from coast to coast.
