Society Meets Hites Challenge; Second Challenge Issued

Phi Theta Kappa has met the Hites Scholarship Challenge, to raise $350,000 toward an almost 2-1 match to establish a $1 million scholarship endowment - the largest in the Society's history. Due to the success in meeting the first challenge in record time, The Hites Family Community College Scholarship Foundation has announced a second challenge. The Foundation will again match contributions almost 2-1 to generate a second $1 million toward the endowment. Hites Foundation Board Member Ray Hites, brother of the late founder Robert Hites, announced the new challenge at the recent 2009 Convention, while accepting the 2009 Alliance for Educational Excellence Distinguished Partner Award. Watch the Golden Key News Briefs and the Phi Theta Kappa Foundation website for information on contributing toward the second $350,000 match, of which approximately $60,000 has already been pledged. Application information for the Hites Scholarships will be announced soon.
