Elizabeth Parks, an English and reading instructor, has served as chapter advisor for the Alpha Rho Eta Chapter of Phi Theta Kappa at Kishwaukee College since 1996 and received the Robert Giles Distinguished Advisor Award for her outstanding work as an advisor. She has received numerous other awards and recognitions, including the Kishwaukee College Board of Trustees Award for Excellence in Teaching and the NISOD Excellence in Teaching Award. She was also one of a select group of community college faculty chosen to participate in a Faculty Exchange Program with faculty from the Netherlands, Finland, Switzerland, and England.

Parks will use her Mosal Award to complete a project entitled "An American Teacher Becomes a Foreign Student." The project will allow her to gain a deeper understanding of the experience of foreign exchange students by participating in a study-abroad experience.
