Report Relay For Life Participation Now
Phi Theta Kappa chapters have been participating in Relay
For Life events for over four years, using creative ideas to help
drive donations to the Society's $10 million goal for the American Cancer
Society. Chapters have held numerous car washes and bake sales in order
to raise money to help fight cancer.
Members at Red Rocks Community
College in Colorado have held bake sales in the past to help collect donations,
but this year the chapter sold ribbons to commemorate individuals affected
by cancer. A banner with the ribbons was displayed during the chapter's
Relay For Life opening ceremonies.
At the end of the festivities,
the chapter had collected over $1,500 for the American Cancer Society.
Car washes and drawings for holiday baskets are some of the fundraising
ideas implemented by members at Merced College in California. With $2,300
collected in donations, advisor Christine Plecnik attributes the chapter's
success to the overall involvement of the members.
"Our strategies
for fundraising were effective because so many of our members participated
in the Relay For Life effort," said Plecnik.
If your chapter
has participated in Relay For Life submit an online Report
Form by September 15. The reports collect information on Phi Theta
Kappa Relay For Life participation, including funds raised by the chapter,
number of members participating, and hours volunteered.
