Society Alumnus Among Presenters at Democratic Convention
Phi Theta Kappa alumnus and Foundation
Trustee Wes Moore took part in two presentations during the Democratic
National Convention in Denver.
Moore was featured on an American
Voices segment, a daily feature highlighting citizens promoting positive
change. Moore was also one of three military combat "Veterans for Obama"
who participated in a panel discussion on the conflict in Iraq and Afghanistan.

Recently
Moore was invited to participate in a nationwide conference on Race
and Reconciliation in America, held at the National Press Club
in Washington, D.C., on July 24 and 25.
Moore became a member
of Phi Theta Kappa at Valley Forge Military College in Pennsylvania. He
was president of his Phi Theta Kappa chapter and of the student body, and
also served as Regimental Commander, the highest ranking cadet on campus.
While a student at Valley Forge, Moore completed the Phi Theta Kappa Leadership
Development Studies course.
Moore received a scholarship
to attend Johns Hopkins University, graduating Phi Beta Kappa with a double
degree in International Relations and Economics. He studied International
Relations at Oxford University in England as a Rhodes Scholar, and is a former
White House Fellow.
A captain in the U.S. Army Reserve, Moore
completed a tour of active duty in Afghanistan and earned a Bronze Star medal.
Moore
served as moderator of the 2008 Phi Theta Kappa International Convention's
Conversation with CNN's Christiane Amanpour and former State Department
official James Rubin. Moore was a panelist for the 2006 Convention's Conversation
with former Secretary of State Madeleine Albright.
