Society Ends the Year with 34 New Chapters
With 2006 drawing to a close, Phi Theta Kappa will end the year with 34 new
chapters joining the Society. From the state of Virginia to the republic
of Palau, the new chapters represent Phi Theta Kappa's continued global
expansion.
"This has been one of the most significant years
in Phi Theta Kappa's history," said Executive Director Rod Risley. "We
are enabling ourselves as a Society to reach out and embrace new cultures
by chartering chapters in faraway areas like the British Virgin Islands,
the Pacific republics of Palau, the Marshall Islands, Micronesia, and
the United Arab Emirates."
The new chapters mark many firsts
for the Society, including a charters in the Middle East.
In
October, Risley served as the Headquarters Representative for the official
chartering ceremony at Fujairah Colleges in the United Arab Emirates.
During his visit, Risley met with Dr. Bill Lex, Director of Fujairah Men's
and Women's College, and His Highness Sheikh Hamad Bin Saif Al Sharqi, Deputy
