Here's what's new for 2010:
Convention
speakers! News analyst Rachel Maddow and medical correspondent Dr.
Sanjay Gupta will be keynote
speakers. Phi Theta Kappa Executive Director Rod Risley and International
President Edgar Romero will also speak during General Sessions.
"Democratization
of Information" performance! As part of the introduction of the new
Honors Study Topic, chapters are invited to sing, dance or otherwise interpret
"What a Wonderful World," for a blended performance to be aired during a
General Session. Submissions are due January 4 - learn more on Facebook

New schedule! The Convention
schedule has been restructured to make the event more affordable
and to provide an opportunity for everyone to attend the Honors in Action
Academy, now open to any registered attendee. The Honors
in Action Academy will be held Thursday, April 8, with the Convention
Grand Opening following that evening.
Grand Opening on
Thursday night! Grand
Opening events include the Transfer College Fair, Political
Rally, Scholarship Boulevard, Opportunity Avenue, Networking Lounges,
Recognitions and Chapter Sales Booths, and more!
Walt
Disney World! You'll have free time on Friday evening to visit
the theme parks. Purchase discounted
tickets online, and check out Disney's Give
a Day. Get a Disney Day opportunity to volunteer and receive free
admission to the park. Complete details will be announced January 1, 2010.
New
banquet schedule! The Hallmark Awards Gala will be held Saturday afternoon,
and banquets will follow, with special awards presentations during the
banquets. All Convention participants will attend the banquets, which
will be an opportunity to salute chapter advisors. The banquets also have
a new name: "Celebrating Excellence - Honoring Our Advisors Banquets."

don't miss Educational
Forums scheduled every day - five rounds and over 60 Forum topics;
election of 2010-2011 International
Officers and special opportunities for advisors and for alumni.
Advisors
may register chapter members, and individuals
may register for the Convention anytime between now and February
8, 2010, for the lowest Early Bird fee of $279 per person.
Registrations
are now being accepted for the Honors
in Action Academy, and Honors in Action Academy registrations
may be added to existing Convention registrations. The Honors in Action
Academy is open to all registered Convention attendees.
Make
reservations at the Convention
hotel, the Walt Disney World Swan and Dolphin Resort,
online. Free
rollaway beds are available - supplies are limited so reserve
yours now.
Hotel restaurants include the buffet/cafeteria
"Picabu," open 24 hours a day, seven days a week, and featuring moderately
priced meals. A convenience store offering snacks and sundries is located
within "Picabu." Pizza and desserts are available along the Boardwalk,
just minutes from the Swan and Dolphin.
Staying at the
Convention hotel helps defray Convention costs, assists with maintaining
lowest possible registration fees and also promotes community and fellowship.
Attendees who stay in the Convention hotel will also be eligible to enjoy
extended hours at the theme parks.
