Invite College Presidents to 2008 International Convention

Phi Theta Kappa chapters are encouraged to invite their college presidents to register to attend the Society's 2008 International Convention, held this year in conjunction with the convention of the American Association of Community Colleges, the national advocacy organization for two-year institutions. Phi Theta Kappa's Convention registration fee has been waived for all college presidents.

A PowerPoint presentation for chapters to promote attending the International Convention and opportunities for administrative support to college presidents is available online.

The Phi Theta Kappa and AACC Conventions will be held in the Pennsylvania Convention Center in downtown Philadelphia. Phi Theta Kappa's Convention dates are April 3-5, and the AACC dates are April 5-8. The joint session on April 5 will be AACC's Opening Session.

College presidents have been invited to come early and attend Phi Theta Kappa's Convention, especially the Society's Third and Fourth General Sessions, and a dinner.

Phi Theta Kappa Convention events of special interest to college presidents include the Board of Directors Recognition Dinner, on Friday, April 4, at 6:15 pm, in the Liberty Ballroom of the Philadelphia Marriott Downtown; the Third General Session on Friday, April 4, at 8:00 pm, featuring speakers Christiane Amanpour and James Rubin; and the Fourth General Session on Saturday, April 5, at 9:00 am, featuring George Will. The General Sessions will be held in the Pennsylvania Convention Center.

The joint session on Saturday, April 5, at 5:00 pm, also in the Convention Center, will showcase Phi Theta Kappa leaders, including International President Casey Maliszewski and Executive Director Rod Risley.

Hallmark Awards for college presidents will be presented at Phi Theta Kappa's Third General Session and at the joint Phi Theta Kappa/AACC General Session.

Invitations to presidents were mailed to all chapter advisors in the fall of 2007. Save the Date Postcards will be mailed to all college presidents early next month. Both mailings include response cards, which when returned will serve as registrations. College presidents may also register by downloading a registration form online.

College presidents attending both the Phi Theta Kappa and the AACC Conventions may register online at the Philadelpia Marriott Downtown for their entire stay.
