Get a Head Start on Honors in Action Projects - Register for the Honors in Action Academy
Honors in Action will be an integral part of future Five Star and Hallmark
awards programs, and Honors in Action Academy attendees will be the first
to learn all about this new Phi Theta Kappa initiative.
Register
now and be a part of Phi Theta Kappa's FIRST EVER Honors
in Action Academy - open to all advisors and members attending
the 2009 Convention.
The Honors in Action Academy will be held April 15 and continue through the
morning of April 16; the Convention begins the evening of April 16, at the
Gaylord Texan Resort & Convention Center in Grapevine, Texas.
The
new Honors in Action Academy replaces the former Advisor Education Pre-Conference,
Chapter Officer Academy and Regional Officer Academy - and now is open to
chapter members as well as officers and advisors.
The curriculum
has been redesigned and is dedicated to providing education and information
to help chapters effectively plan and implement an Honors in Action project,
a requirement for the 2009 Five Star Program and a key element in the 2010
Hallmark Awards. Individuals will also benefit from acquiring life skills
to help them achieve success as scholars and servant leaders, within and
beyond their college experience.
Breakout sessions on such
essential leadership development components as team building and goal
setting will be included, as well as instruction in other skills that will
prepare participants for all walks of life.
Participants will
also leave a lasting legacy by taking part in a hands-on service project
to help clean and beautify three sites in the Convention host city, Grapevine,
Texas.
Members, including chapter and regional officers,
pay an $85 fee to attend the Honors in Action Academy. Advisors attend at
no charge. All participants receive a monogrammed Honors in Action Academy
bag and cap.
