Members of Phi Theta Kappa's Headquarters staff were honored recently at a ceremony at the Center for Excellence, for completing landmark years of service.

"The Headquarters staff makes miracles happen," said Executive Director Rod Risley. "I'm proud to salute our staff members who are celebrating anniversaries, and I am honored to work with all Headquarters staff, whose dedication and professionalism is unequalled."

Receiving a 20-year pin was Ellen Carmody Roster, Associate Executive Director and Chief Operating Officer.

Celebrating 10 years as a staff member were Amber Earles, Financial Services Coordinator; and Wendy Taylor, Conference and Special Projects Manager.

Five-year anniversary pins were presented to Tracey Barnes, Financial Services Assistant; Suzanne Brister, Scholarship Programs Coordinator; Tria Cohen, Honors Programs Coordinator; Casey Holcomb, Director of Recognition Services; Anita Loflin, User Support and Training Specialist; and Garon Tate, Chapter Relations Manager.

Three-year service pins went to Heather Johnson, Director of Scholarship Programs; Melissa Jordan, Regional Meeting Coordinator; Barb Murray, Chapter Relations Manager, and Rick Potratz, Web Programmer.

A portrait of Executive Director Risley was unveiled, which will be displayed at the Center for Excellence, marking his 30-plus years as a staff member and saluting his service and contributions to Phi Theta Kappa.

Some of Risley's accomplishments cited by Associate Executive Director Carmody Roster including leading efforts to increase membership benefits, establishing the Leadership Development Program, the All-USA Academic Team Program, All-State Team programs, and Guistwhite and Leaders of Promise scholarships.

Risley has also collaborated with such agencies as the Jack Kent Cooke Foundation, the Coca-Cola Scholarship Foundation and the Coca-Cola Foundation to promote participation in their scholarship programs and to increase the number of scholarships offered.

His work with Ivy League and elite colleges and universities has resulted in increased transfer acceptance and more scholarships and programs for transfer students.

"My work with Phi Theta Kappa has never felt like a job," Risley said in his response. "It has been a blessing to be involved with this organization, every day of those 30 years."
