*Provide potential chartering
dates and times to Phi Theta Kappa contact.
A Phi Theta Kappa representative
will present the chapter's official charter and plaque at your chapter's
chartering ceremony. By submitting
your potential dates and times at least three weeks in advance your chapter
is ensured to have a Headquarters chartering representative attend the
official chartering ceremony.
*Report new members.
All
new members should be reported to Phi Theta Kappa through Personal Assistant
Manager (PAM). Chapters
must have a minimum of 10 members to charter. After being reported, members
receive a membership packet containing their certificate, Golden Key
pin, Membership Benefits and Scholarship Guide, and a Recognitions catalog.
If you require assistance when reporting members, please contact Phi Theta
Kappa User Support
at 800.946.9995 ext. 3561.
*Mail chartering ceremony invitations
to new members.
Create and mail invitations to the chartering
ceremony to all new members. It is also beneficial to invite college administration
and faculty to celebrate the foundation of your Phi Theta Kappa chapter.
*Set
Five Star Chapter Development goal.
We want your chapter to begin
on the right foot by setting a goal. The Five
Star Chapter Development Program guides each chapter through
the process of becoming an active and engaged chapter. Conduct a chapter
meeting prior to the chartering ceremony to set your goal for the year. For
more information on the Five Star Chapter Development Program, visit the
website or contact
Regional Programs.
*Receive chartering materials.
Prior to your chartering ceremony, you will receive a packet containing your official charter, diploma seals, a transcript stamp, your chapter notebook, and chapter plaque.
*Conduct chartering ceremony.
The chartering
ceremony is when your charter will be officially presented to your college
president or campus CEO and your chapter's first members will be inducted.
The Phi Theta Kappa representative will present the charter and serves
as the guest speaker at the ceremony. Refer to Chapter 8 of the printed Chapter Resource
Manual or online
for complete guidelines and suggestions that will help you to prepare an
impressive ceremony.
