In the Spotlight
In the Spotlight this episode is the Missouri Region. The Missouri Regional Leadership Conference was held July 18 – 20 at State Fair Community College in Sedalia, Missouri. The successful event featured regional officer presentations on Society programs, an extensive mock chapter exercise focusing on Honors in Action, workshops related to chapter success, and a visit to the Daum Museum of Contemporary Art. Congratulations to the Missouri Region, regional officers, Regional Coordinator Ann Parks, and the Alpha Lambda Omega chapter for a job well done!

In the Spotlight
In the Spotlight for July is the Alpha Zeta Omicron Chapter at Cedar Valley College in Texas. The Alpha Zeta Omicron Chapter’s Earth Day activities combined the efforts of several groups on campus and in the community to make an impact. The event focused on environmental education, recycling, and beautification. The chapter also founded Earth Club, a campus organization dedicated to continuing the efforts toward improving the environment locally and beyond. We called the Alpha Zeta Omicron Chapter to learn first-hand about their successful event.

Scholarships Report
Director of Scholarship Programs Heather Johnson talks about upcoming scholarship opportunities for Phi Theta Kappa members. Members are encouraged to check out the online eScholarship directory, the source for over 665 colleges and universities that offer transfer scholarships exclusively to Phi Theta Kappa members. Leaders of Promise Scholarship applications will become available in January. Jack Kent Cooke Foundation Scholarships applications are due February 1, 2008.
The Key Line
Executive Director Rod Risley continues to discuss the concept of globalization and how it affects community college students. With comments from Dr. David Shinn, former U.S. Ambassador to Ethiopia and Burkina Faso, Mr. Risley explores international issues that will impact today’s generation of college students.
