The primary purpose of Phi Theta Kappa is to recognize and encourage academic excellence; therefore, extending the membership invitation to eligible students is one of the most important functions of a chapter. While advisors are ultimately responsible for reporting new members to Headquarters, many other aspects of the member invitation process can and should be coordinated by chapter officers and members.
Advisors can get help with the invitation process through the Personal Assistant Manager, or PAM. PAM can be used to load the addresses of prospective members into a word processing package for quick generation of labels, envelopes or reports. Advisors can also offer prospective members the option to complete their application securely and pay fees safely online, decreasing their workload. When members register online, local chapter fees will be collected by Headquarters and sent back to local chapters. Only students invited to that chapter for membership can access information online.
