Phi Theta Kappa Regions

This information last updated: November 25, 2009 11:11 AM

All chapters of Phi Theta Kappa automatically belong to a region. A region may be composed of a single state or a group of states. Within each region, a Regional Coordinator, the advisory committee and the regional officers work together to promote the growth and development of the individual chapters in their regions. Regional meetings held annually include a Regional Honors in Action Conference and a Regional Convention. To identify your region, get contact information for the regional Coordinator and regional officers, and view your region’s awards history and upcoming events, visit www.ptk.org/regions.

Regional Coordinators

A Regional Coordinator is appointed to each region, to plan and implement programs within the region, and to facilitate communications between the advisors in the region and Phi Theta Kappa Headquarters. An Advisory Committee, composed of chapter advisors, provides assistance to the Regional Coordinator in overseeing regional activities.

Regional Officers

Regional programs offer members opportunities to network with many chapters all within close proximity of each other. Regional officers help to cultivate relationships between these chapters while offering special assistance to those chapters that need an added boost.

Officer positions and responsibilities vary from region to region. Most regions elect a regional president. Other positions include one or more vice presidents (representing states or districts within the region), a secretary, a public relations officer, and historian. Some regions elect individuals to officer positions, and other regions elect chapters. Most regional officer elections are held at spring regional conventions. The Regional Coordinator can explain specific responsibilities and criteria for holding office in each region.
