Harness the Power of Twitter in Job Searches

The Twitter Web site says: “Twitter is a service for friends, family, and coworkers to communicate and stay connected through the exchange of quick, frequent answers to one simple question: What are you doing?”

As it applies to career networking, Twitter has taken the game to the next level. With over 3 million users, Twitter offers an unprecedented opportunity to create extended networks. It’s what’s known as “loose” connections – connecting with professionals outside of your immediate circle whose contacts are different from your own.

The ability to instant message a universe of professionals will give you a chance to develop relationships, exchange info, discover opportunities and get hired – all from posting and receiving 140-character messages known as “tweets.”

That may not sound like enough space to describe yourself, but it definitely compels users to be as clear and concise as possible – to hone branding statements to the bare essentials. “Less is more” is definitely the mantra of Twitter.
