Steps to Success:
Right Now:
- Select which award categories your chapter will focus on in the coming year.
- To compete in the Distinguished Chapter category, plan to submit entries in the Scholarship, Leadership and Service Hallmark Awards.
- Conduct activities centered on the Society's Hallmarks, with particular emphasis on Phi Theta Kappa
programs.
- Keep detailed records of your chapter's activities so that chapter members may write about them for
the award entries.
- Designate committee members to write the nomination forms for each award category your chapter
is entering.
- Designate a separate committee member(s) to coordinate individual award nominations, including
requesting nomination forms to be completed by those outside your chapter.
- Finalize entries for the four college administrator award categories and mail to Headquarters to arrive before the deadline of December 7, 2007.
- All award entries for college administrators must be RECEIVED at Headquarters.
- Begin writing the nomination forms and reminding writers outside your chapter of the upcoming deadline.
- Members should proof and correct nomination forms before passing them to advisors for a final review.
- Consider asking an English instructor, journalism instructor or a chapter alumnus to proof your award entries as well.
- Assemble your packets. Prepare an Entry Form for each category entered, making sure your advisor and chapter president sign each one.
- Complete and include the Entry Checklist and Media Information Form.
- Double-check your package to ensure that all required elements have been included.
- Ship your applications so that they arrive before the deadline.
- Award entries must be RECEIVED at Headquarters by 5:00 pm CST. Late, emailed or faxed entries will not be judged.
