R & R Day
On Thursday, June 25, no activities or events are scheduled for R & R Day. Downtown Richmond has numerous historical and cultural attractions to explore. Visit the Richmond Convention and Visitor’s Bureau website to learn more. Brochures and maps, provided by the Virginia Alumni Association, will be distributed at registration to help participants plan their day. The Virginia Alumni Association has also suggested a self-guided tour of the city of Richmond of the sightseeing essentials.
The 16 Westhampton bus runs from the Gateway entrance of the University on Campus Dr. to downtown Richmond at 8th St. and Grace. We recommend you get off at 8th and Grace to explore the historic and cultural attractions of the city of Richmond. The bus runs about every 20 minutes from 6:00 am - 8:00 pm from and to the college campus. The one-way fare is $1.25 and exact change is necessary.
Honors Institute participants are responsible for all fees including bus fare, admissions, breakfast, lunch, and dinner on Thursday. Dining options in Richmond are endless. For a wide selection, visit the many restaurants located in the Historic Shockoe Bottom/Slip area.The Heilman Dining Center will be open on Thursday for those wishing to eat on campus. Meal times and prices (excluding tax) for Thursday are as follows:
Breakfast - $6.50
7:00 - 9:30 am
Lunch - $8.25
11:00 am - 2:00 pm
Dinner - $9.25
4:30 - 6:45 pm
Interested in traveling to Williamsburg on R & R Day?
Phi Theta Kappa has reserved one bus to take a limited number of Honors Institute participants to historic Colonial Williamsburg on R & R Day. Bus transportation will be provided at no charge on a first come, first served basis. Admission fees and meals during the trip are NOT included and are participants’ responsibility. Please email Tria Cohen by Friday, June 19 to reserve your place on the bus. Include the name of each Honors Institute attendee for whom you are reserving a seat. The bus will leave campus at 8:30 am for Willamsburg and will depart from Williamsburg to return to the University of Richmond at 4:45 pm. Phi Theta Kappa reserves the right to cancel the trip if an acceptable number of attendees do not respond in the affirmative by Friday, June 19.
