Alumnae Receive Truman Scholarships

Phi Theta Kappa alumnae Lalita D. Booth of Florida and Caraleigh Holverson of Illinois have been named 2008 Truman Scholars. Booth became a member of Phi Theta Kappa at Seminole Community College in Florida, and now attends the University of Central Florida where her major is Finance and Accounting. Holverson was Vice President for Leadership of her Phi Theta Kappa chapter at Triton College in Illinois. She is majoring in International Politics at Georgetown University in Washington, D.C. Holverson was named to the All-USA Academic First Team in 2005, and was Illinois New Century Scholar. Truman Scholarships, named in honor of President Harry Truman, may provide up to $30,000 for graduate studies. Approximately 80 scholarships are awarded annually to college juniors with exceptional leadership potential who are committed to careers in public service.
