Honors in Action: PBS Explores Planet's Mysteries
Season 2 of National Geographic's special two-part series, Strange Days on Planet Earth, will begin airing April 25 on PBS stations in most areas. The return of the award-winning series focuses on global ocean and freshwater issues, examining effects not only on the environment but on the world economy and social and political structures. Visit the Strange Days on Planet Earth website for a host of online resources for educators, plus suggested ways for viewers to assume leadership roles in addressing the problems raised in the episodes Dangerous Catch and Dirty Secrets. Honors in Action activities integrate the Hallmarks of Scholarship, Leadership, Service and Fellowship into programs focusing on the newly announced Honors Study Topic, The Paradox of Affluence: Choices, Challenges, and Consequences. Honors in Action projects utilize the Honors Study Topic, the International Service Program, Operation Green: Improving Our Communities, and the Leadership Development Program.
