Iowa Chapter Advisor Receives Parnell Scholarship Marjorie Welch, a chemistry instructor and Phi Theta Kappa advisor at Southwestern Community College in Creston, Iowa, has been named the Society's Parnell Scholar for 2000. Welch was previously chosen to attend the Faculty Scholar Conference in March in Jackson, Mississippi, and serve as a Seminar Leader for the 2000 International Honors Institute in San Diego, California. The Parnell Scholarship provides funds for an advisor to attend the International Convention, and is presented to a first-time Honors Institute Seminar Leader who has not previously attended an International Convention. The award is named for Dr. Dale Parnell, former President of the American Association of Community Colleges and a former member of the Phi Theta Kappa Board of Directors.
