Trisha Yearwood to Receive Distinguished Alumna Honor at Convention Grammy-winning entertainer Trisha Yearwood will attend the Opening Ceremonies of the 2002 International Convention in Nashville on April 4 to receive Phi Theta Kappa's 2002 Most Distinguished Alumna Award. Read more about Yearwood at www.ptk.org. Yearwood was inducted into Phi Theta Kappa while attending Young Harris College in Georgia in 1983, where she later graduated with honors. Her first album, released in 1991, established her as one of the leading performers on the American music scene. She has won all major country music awards, performed at the Academy Awards, the Olympics and the Library of Congress. Most Distinguished Alumni Awards for 2002 will also be presented at Convention to two outstanding physicians, Dr. Beverly Oliphant, an alumna from East Central Community College in Mississippi, and Dr. Kendall McNabney, an alumnus from Coffeyville Community College in Kansas.
