Record Number of Chapters Attend 2000 International Convention A record-breaking number of chapters --- a total of 554 --- attended Phi Theta Kappa’s 2000 International Convention in Orlando, Florida, April 20-22. This year’s chapter participation broke the previous record of 551 chapters, set in 1998, and showed a significant increase over the number of chapters attending the 1999 Convention, 543. Over 3,500 chapter representatives and alumni in attendance at the Convention witnessed the introduction of the Society’s 2000-01 major scholastic and service initiatives, the Honors Study Topic and the International Service Program, and were challenged by a colloquy on contemporary issues between Dr. Jeane Kirkpatrick and Geraldine Ferraro. Chapters, chapter advisors and alumni also elected new leadership for the coming academic year. Attendees also chose from among 20 Educational Forums offering instruction in Society programs.
