Chapters Erase 1,000 Tons of Carbon
It's official - Phi Theta Kappa chapters have met their goal to erase the carbon footprint left by the 2007 International Convention! Following a challenge issued by the 2007-2008 International Officers, chapters have reported recycling projects and tree plantings that accounted for erasing more than 1,000 tons, the estimated carbon footprint left from travel to Phi Theta Kappa's 2007 International Convention in Nashville. "The International Officer Team thanks and congratulates our chapters for their outstanding efforts on behalf of the environment," said 2007-2008 International President Casey Maliszewski. "Many of the projects that successfully answered the challenge of erasing the 2007 carbon footprint are permanent, and we are certain Phi Theta Kappa chapters will continue to take personal responsibility for our environment and serve as leaders in the fight to protect our planet." The Society's 2008-2010 International Service Program is Operation Green: Improving Our Communities, a partnership with Keep America Beautiful.
