Honors Institute Play Interprets "Paradox" through Humor

Continental Divide, a comedy by Oliver Hailey, depicts the paradox of affluence through the actions of two couples meeting before their children marry - Lucille and Cullum are wealthy, sophisticated New Yorkers, and Mae and Mr. John live in a poor area of rural Arkansas. The play will be presented as a Reader's Theatre performance during Phi Theta Kappa's International Honors Institute. Laura Taggett, an English professor at Lone Star College-CyFair in Texas, and co-founder of the college's Reader's Theatre, will direct and also appear as Mae. Cast members also include Faculty Scholar Kenneth Kerr, Phi Theta Kappa chapter advisor Larry Polk and CyFair English professor Michelle Brown. Register now for the 2008 Honors Institute, a weeklong exploration of the Honors Study Topic, scheduled June 16-21 at San Francisco State University.
