Coca-Cola Pledges $100,000 to Fund Centennial Scholarships The Coca-Cola Foundation will present $100,000 in scholarships to 50 outstanding community college students in 2001, to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the two-year college system. The 50 Centennial Scholars will receive stipends of $2,000 each, and will be recognized at the 100th anniversary Convention of the American Association of Community Colleges, scheduled for April 4-7, 2001, in Chicago. The top-ranked All-USA Academic Team nominee in each of the 50 United States will be named that state's Centennial Scholar. Nomination materials for the 2001 All-USA Academic Team have been mailed to all college presidents or their designated scholarship contacts. Completed nomination materials must be received at Phi Theta Kappa Headquarters by December 1, 2000. Each campus may nominate two students for the All-USA Academic Team, which selects three teams of 20 students each. All 60 students and their colleges receive special feature coverage in USA TODAY. The 20 All-USA Academic First Team members receive stipends of $2,500, and will be recognized at the American Association of Community Colleges Convention.
