Wisconsin Chapter Provides Fee Assistance to Members
The Phi Theta Kappa chapter at the University of Wisconsin-Fox Valley Campus
has found a way to assist eligible students who want to accept membership
but may be unable to pay the fee. Advisor Rex Hieser located a donor willing
to cover up to half of the fee for students with financial burdens. Students
may pay according to their ability and the remainder is covered by the donation.
Hieser said that even students who don't need assistance appreciate that
Phi Theta Kappa is willing to help. Other membership acceptance strategies
employed by the chapter members include following up the official invitation
from the college dean with personal emails that include their own Phi Theta
Kappa experiences. Current members will also individually contact any
eligible students personally known to them. The chapter has earned a Pinnacle
Silver Award and a $100 scholarship for their membership acceptance
success. Learn more about the Pinnacle
Scholarship Award Program.
