NJ Chapter's Efforts Put Pinnacle Goal Within Reach
Many Phi Theta Kappa chapters consider summer to be a slow time in terms of
membership activity, but members at Hudson County Community College in
New Jersey discovered it could be a "hot" time to increase the chapter's
membership acceptance. Prospective members were invited to a summer orientation.
Chapter officers decorated the room with Good
as Gold balloons and served refreshments. Door prizes were awarded
to the first students who submitted membership applications. Excerpts
of the Phi Theta Kappa DVD were shown, and students who could not attend the
orientation were contacted following the event. Of the 65 who attended,
55 accepted membership that afternoon and others have since accepted.
The Hudson County chapter received a Silver Award in the 2004 Pinnacle
Scholarship Award Program and is working toward a Pinnacle
Gold Award this year. Learn more about Good
