Kansas Chapter Shares Strategy for Earning Pinnacle Gold
A provisional membership program has helped the Phi Theta Kappa chapter
at Coffeyville Community College in Kansas reach Pinnacle
Gold status! Advisor Linda McFate said the program allows participants
in Coffeyville's Honors and Presidential Scholars programs to become
provisional Phi Theta Kappa members during their first collegiate semester.
This experience makes them eager to accept their invitation to full membership,
she said. The chapter hosts a provisional members' breakfast with administrators
and a dinner for prospective members and utilizes a phone tree. Members
meet with eligible students to answer questions. Chapter officers and
advisors also speak during Freshman Orientation. This year chapter leaders
plan to host a "lock-in" for current members and prospective members. Four
levels of recognition are available to chapters that enroll in the Pinnacle
Scholarship Award Program and successfully improve their membership
acceptance. Read Pinnacle
Success Stories and strategies and check your chapter and region's
progress online.
