Leading Leaders

Leading Leaders is a resource for Phi Theta Kappa advisors launched in early 2005. New Leading Leaders articles are announced in the Golden Key News Briefs, usually twice each month. Leading Leaders articles are written specifically for advisors to summarize strategies or insights on leadership issues advisors face and on issues related to their work with chapter members and officers.

Questions or comments about Leading Leaders may be directed to Monika Byrd, Dean of Leadership Development for the Honors Program Department.

Honors in Action Profiles
The following articles describe the work of real people who exemplify the Honors in Action approach in their lives, integrating scholarly research and learning with service and leadership and educating others as well as seeking others to work with them. Their lives illustrate the philosophy expressed by Theodore Roosevelt in 1912 that "Scholarship is of worth chiefly when it is productive, when the scholar not merely receives or acquires, but gives".

Phi Theta Kappa's Honors Program Department will be thinking and writing this year about our 2008-2010 Honors Study Topic, The Paradox of Affluence: Choices, Challenges, and Consequences and Honors in Action, in our OutThinking” blog. Susan Edwards, Dean of Academic Affairs and Honors Programs, Monika Byrd, Dean of Leadership Development, and Jennifer Stanford, Dean of Service Learning, along with guest writers, will be posting regularly to the blog and invite your comments and responses.
