New Jersey Students Hold Completion Summit

The Alpha Kappa Kappa Chapter of Phi Theta Kappa from the County College of Morris in Randolph, New Jersey, recently held a Commit to Complete Signing Day and Community College Completion Corps (C4) Summit. They gathered 219 signatures for completion commitments.
The chapter hosted Phi Theta Kappa and Student Government Association members from eight local community colleges - Atlantic Cape, Bergen, Brookdale, Burlington, Essex, Passaic, Sussex and Warren - for a summit on planning a C4 Signing Day and the importance of completing an associate degree. Speakers included Peter Peliotis, Phi Theta Kappa member and Senator for the Student Government Association at the County College of Morris, and Heather Smith, Public Relations Officer for the Alpha Kappa Kappa Chapter and Senator for the Student Government Association. Both spoke about their personal experiences and why they valued their college education.
Additional speakers included Dr. Edward Yaw, President of the County College of Morris; Dr. Bette Simmons, Vice President of Student Development and Enrollment Management at the County College of Morris; and Gil Zweig, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the County College of Morris Foundation and President and Co-Founder of Glenbrook Technologies, which is located in Randolph and develops real-time x-ray inspection systems.
