Phi Theta Kappa Announces New Illinois Interim Regional Coordinator
Jackson, MS -- David Elder, Phi Theta Kappa chapter advisor at McHenry County
College in Illinois, has been appointed Interim Coordinator for the Illinois
Region by Phi Theta Kappa's Executive Director, Rod A. Risley.
Each
of Phi Theta Kappa's 29
regions is directed by a Regional Coordinator who is also an experienced
chapter advisor. Regional Coordinators serve as liaisons between Headquarters
and the Phi Theta Kappa chapters and two-year colleges in the region.
Elder's
appointment followed a review of nominations submitted by advisors and
college presidents in the region. Elder became advisor of the Chi Upsilon
Chapter at McHenry County College in August of 1984. He currently serves
as Chairman of Phi Theta Kappa's Association
of Chapter Advisors and he is also a certified instructor in the
Society's Leadership Development
Studies Program. Elder was selected as a Giles Distinguished
Advisor in 1997 and received the Continued Excellence Award in 1999.
"Serving
as Interim Regional Coordinator provides significant professional leadership
opportunities and significant exposure for the individual's college,"
Risley said.
"Elder's participation in Phi Theta Kappa's international
conferences and programs will position McHenry County College in the educational
arena as an institution that is committed to providing students and faculty
with quality academic programming."
