Phi Theta Kappa Announces New England Interim Regional Coordinator
Jackson, MS - Michelle Brinck, Phi Theta Kappa chapter advisor at Norwalk
Community College in Connecticut, has been appointed Interim Coordinator
for the New England Region by Phi Theta Kappa's Executive Director, Rod
A. Risley.
Each of Phi Theta Kappa's 29
regions is directed by a Regional Coordinator who is also an experienced
chapter advisor. Regional Coordinators serve as liaisons between International
Headquarters and the Phi Theta Kappa chapters and two-year colleges in
the region.
Brinck's appointment followed a review of nominations
submitted by advisors and college presidents in the region. She became
advisor of the Alpha Iota Nu Chapter at Norwalk Community College in 2002.
Brinck was inducted as a member of Alpha Iota Nu Chapter in 1999,
and served as Chapter President during the 2000-01 academic year. Additionally,
the chapter has been recognized as a Top 100 Chapter in the Society.
"Serving
as Interim Regional Coordinator provides noteworthy professional leadership
opportunities and significant exposure for the individual's college,"
Risley said.
"Brinck's participation in Phi Theta Kappa's
international conferences and programs will position Norwalk Community
College in the educational arena as an institution that is committed to
providing students and faculty with quality academic programming."
Phi
Theta Kappa International Honor Society, headquartered in Jackson, is
the oldest and largest honor society in American higher education with
1,200 chapters on two-year and community college campuses in all 50 of the
United States, Canada, Germany, the Republic of Palau, the British Virgin
Islands and U.S. territorial possessions. More than two million students
have been inducted since its founding in 1918, with approximately 100,000
students inducted annually.
