Phi Theta Kappa Announces New York Interim Regional Coordinator

Jackson, MS - Laurie Freeman, Phi Theta Kappa chapter advisor at Fulton-Montgomery Community College in New York, has been appointed Interim Coordinator for the New York Region by Phi Theta Kappa's Executive Director Rod A. Risley.

Each of Phi Theta Kappa's 29 regions is directed by a Regional Coordinator who is also an experienced chapter advisor. Regional Coordinators serve as liaisons between Headquarters and the Phi Theta Kappa chapters and two-year colleges in the region.

Freeman's appointment followed a review of nominations submitted by advisors and college presidents in the region. Freeman became advisor of the Alpha Alpha Upsilon Chapter at Fulton-Montgomery Community College in 1999.

The chapter has been recognized twice as a Top 100 Chapter in the Society, and Freeman is a recipient of the Horizon Award for Advisors.

"Serving as Interim Regional Coordinator provides noteworthy professional leadership opportunities and significant exposure for the individual's college," Risley said.

"Freeman's participation in Phi Theta Kappa's international conferences and programs will position Fulton-Montgomery Community College in the educational arena as an institution that is committed to providing students and faculty with quality academic programming."
