30 Phi Theta Kappa Members Receive Leaders of Promise Scholarships
Thirty Phi Theta Kappa members in 18 states have been named recipients of
the 2006 Phi Theta Kappa Leaders of Promise Scholarships. All scholars
receive scholarships of $1,000 to further their associate degree studies.
The Leaders
of Promise Scholarship Program provides new Phi Theta Kappa members
with financial resources to help defray educational expenses while enrolled
at a two-year college. The program also provides opportunity and encourages
students to assume leadership roles by participating in society programs.
"This is a noteworthy honor because it recognizes the potential
success of outstanding students," explains Rod A. Risley, Phi Theta Kappa
Executive Director. "Through this recognition we are affirming the value
of a community college education and the impact it is having on millions
of students."
