Brookdale Community College Educator Named Vice Chairman of Phi Theta Kappa's Association of Chapter Advisors
JACKSON, MISSISSIPPI - Angela Saragusa, faculty member at Brookdale Community
College in Lincroft, New Jersey, was recently named Vice Chairman of the
Association of Chapter Advisors (ACA) of Phi Theta Kappa, the international
honor society for two-year colleges.
All Phi Theta Kappa advisors
are members of the ACA. Association officers serve as liaisons between
their fellow advisors and the Phi Theta Kappa International Headquarters
staff. ACA officers regularly give input to Headquarters on a variety of
Society issues, serve as presenters regionally and internationally,
and facilitate the ACA Luncheon meeting during Phi Theta Kappa's annual
International Convention.
Saragusa will assume the role of
ACA Chairman for 2007-08. She has served Phi Theta Kappa as a chapter advisor
for four years. Saragusa has been a speaker and a forum leader for Middle
States regional meetings, and was recognized by her college for outstanding
achievements by a faculty member for three consecutive years.
"Working
with Phi Theta Kappa has sincerely been a dream come true for me," said Saragusa.
"The educational and service opportunities are deeply affecting."
Other
2006-2007 ACA Officers are Dan Bailey, Ashland Community and Technical
College, Kentucky, Chairman; and Robert Carey, Pima Community College,
Arizona, Secretary.
"Angela brings a wealth of experience
to the leadership of the ACA," said Phi Theta Kappa Executive Director Rod
Risley. "She is well-versed in chapter programs and has served as a speaker,
forum leader and host advisor for a regional meeting. Angela was responsible
for integrating the Phi Theta Kappa Honors Study Topic into a permanent
honors seminar at her college. Phi Theta Kappa advisors have gained a strong
advocate who is deeply committed to working on their behalf."

Theta Kappa International Honor Society, headquartered in Jackson, is
