20 Phi Theta Kappa Members Named 2009 Guistwhite Scholars
JACKSON, MISSISSIPPI - Twenty Phi Theta Kappa members were selected as
2009 Guistwhite Scholarship recipients and will be recognized during
the Phi Theta Kappa Convention in Dallas April 16-18, 2009.
Guistwhite
Scholars are chosen based on academic achievement, participation in Phi
Theta Kappa programs and service to their colleges and communities. A panel
of independent judges review applications and select up to 20 winners.
Each Guistwhite Scholar is awarded a $5,000 scholarship for baccalaureate
studies. The Guistwhite Scholar Program is named in honor of Dr. Jack Guistwhite
and his wife Margaret Guistwhite. Dr. Guistwhite established the first
designated transfer scholarship for Phi Theta Kappa members.

Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society,
headquartered in Jackson, Mississippi, is the largest honor society in
American higher education with 1,250 chapters on college campuses in all
50 of the United States, Canada, Germany, the Republic of Palau, the Republic
of the Marshall Islands, the Federated States of Micronesia, the British
Virgin Islands, the United Arab Emirates and U.S. territorial possessions.
More than two million students have been inducted since its founding in
1918, with approximately 100,000 students inducted annually.
