Theta Iota Chapter Leaders Visit Center for Excellence
Wednesday, December 14, 2011
Leaders of Phi Theta Kappa’s Theta Iota Chapter, from Snead State Community College in Alabama, recently visited the Center for Excellence.
College president Dr. Robert Exley and his wife Anita, both Phi Theta Kappa alumni, accompanied the group. Dr. Exley was National President of Phi Theta Kappa in 1979-80, when he was a student at San Jacinto College in Texas.
Chapter advisor Brittany Wilborn, who is the college’s Director of Campus Engagement, reported on the chapter’s college completion efforts and their Honors in Action project, “What Are You Wearing?”. Chapter members researched the clothing manufacturing industry for their project.
Wilborn and Dr. Exley also discussed the Student Success Center, which houses the cyber and print libraries, career development and job placement, student organizations and administrative offices.
“This has become the hub of activity for our campus,” Dr. Exley said. “Prospective students and new students are immediately introduced to Phi Theta Kappa and to the concept of college completion.”
“Completion begins with recruitment.”
