Each year, from March 1 to May 31, millions of volunteers nationwide mobilize to improve their communities as volunteer participants in the Great American Cleanup. Phi Theta Kappans are encouraged to join in to make this the most successful year ever! Great American Cleanup activities are diverse and should address the specific needs of your communities or campuses, including beautifying parks and recreation areas, cleaning seashores and waterways, handling recycling collections, picking up litter, planting trees and flowers, and conducting educational programs and holding litter-free events. Get involved by volunteering with a local Keep America Beautiful affiliate or Great American Cleanup participating organization. Visit www.kab.org to find a participating organization near you or to register your own event! A program kit, complete with artwork and logos to help you advertise your project, will be sent to all chapters who register. Keep track of your project's success and report the outcome to Keep America Beautiful by June 23. Questions may be directed to April Wennerstrom at Keep America Beautiful, 203.323.8987, extension 820. Contact Phi Theta Kappa Director of Programs Jennifer Stanford at 601.984.3532.
