Connecticut Chapter Rolls Up Sleeves for Campus Beautification
The
Alpha Xi Theta Chapter at Gateway Community College in Connecticut
recently conducted a Campus Beautification Project on their campus. Members
utilized the college's dump truck and loaded it with plants, flowers, beautiful
Japanese maple trees, mulch and top soil. Together they traced a design
and placed the plants in front of the campus sign. Members also planted flowers
and bushes around the campus flag pole. All of the materials needed for the
campus beautification project were donated by the chapter. Within three
hours the project was complete. Despite getting wet and muddy, the members
enjoyed their time of service and fellowship. Keep up the good work, Alpha
Xi Theta!
Arizona Chapter Gets Proactive with Project Graduation
The
Alpha Chi Psi Chapter at Mohave Community College in Arizona
joined forces with three Phi Theta Kappa chapters on their sister campuses
to conduct a Project Graduation food and book drive. Chapter members promoted
the project by sending campus wide e-mails, placed flyers on campus and
throughout the community, placed articles in the community newspaper,
and ran radio announcements on and off campus. Members also coordinated
with a local high school National Honor Society to ensure the project was
a success. With a well-promoted event and nearly 400 students and their
families attending graduation, the chapter was able to collect four boxes
filled with books and food items. Good job, Alpha Chi Psi!
Missouri
Chapter Explores Power
The Pi Kappa Chapter at St. Louis Community
College at Florissant Valley in Missouri recently
invited members from the Missouri Region to join their chapter as they explored
an art exhibit at a local art museum called the "Symbols of Power." Following
the exhibit, members enjoyed a picnic while they discussed how the exhibit
related to the Honors Study Topic, Gold, Gods, and Glory: The Global
Dynamics of Power. Members promoted the event by developing a flyer
and sending it to chapters in the region. Way to go, Pi Kappa Chapter!
