Phi Theta Kappa chapters are reminded that entries in Keep America Beautiful's National Awards competition are due September 15. Award entries should focus on efforts in the areas of litter prevention, beautification and waste reduction, which took place from June 2007-June 2008. Complete information is available on Keep America Beautiful's website. Currently 640 Phi Theta Kappa chapters have registered as Chapters of Service, indicating their participation in the International Service Program, Operation Green: Improving Our Communities, a partnership with Keep America Beautiful. Chapters from Tidewater Community College, Thomas W. Moss Campus, in Virginia; Hinds Community College, Raymond Campus, in Mississippi; and Danville Area Community College, Illinois, won first place awards in last year's Keep America Beautiful competition.
