Speakers Bring International Focus to Convention Program

Internationally-known CNN correspondent Christiane Amanpour, former State Department official James Rubin and political columnist George Will are featured speakers at Phi Theta Kappa's 2008 International Convention.

Amanpour and Rubin, who are husband and wife, will discuss international political concerns to conclude the exploration of the 2006-08 Honors Study Topic, Gold, Gods, and Glory: The Global Dynamics of Power. They will also respond to questions posed by a panel of Phi Theta Kappa alumni and friends relating to the 2008-10 Honors Study Topic, The Paradox of Affluence: Choices, Challenges and Consequences. Amanpour and Rubin will speak during the Third General Session on Friday evening, April 4. "A Conversation with George Will," scheduled during the Fourth General Session, Saturday morning, April 5, will focus on domestic and world politics. Following his remarks, Will and a Phi Theta Kappa panel will also discuss issues relating to The Paradox of Affluence.
