Officers - you have a special opportunity to make your college president
more aware of ways an engaged chapter can benefit your college - invite your
college president to the 2008 International Convention.
For
the first time, Phi Theta Kappa and the American
Association of Community Colleges - made up of college presidents
and administrators - will meet together in Philadelphia and hold a joint
Convention session on April 5, which will officially open the AACC event.
Phi Theta Kappa's International President Casey
Maliszewski and Executive Director Rod
Risley will be featured speakers during the joint session. And,
so they may learn firsthand about Phi Theta Kappa, college presidents are
invited to arrive in Philadelphia in time to attend Phi Theta Kappa Convention
events April 3-5. Convention registration fees will be waived for all college
presidents.
College presidents are also invited to a dinner
in their honor on Friday, April 4, at 6:15 pm, with Convention keynote speakers
Christiane
Amanpour and James
Rubin. Presidents are also invited to the Friday evening General
Session at 8:00 pm, when Amanpour and Rubin will speak; and to the Saturday
morning General Session at 9:00 am, to hear speaker George
Will. Be sure to take advantage of this special opportunity to
get your college president fired up about the opportunities Phi Theta Kappa
has to offer your college by inviting them to Convention! A PowerPoint
presentation is available online to help you convey the benefits
of a Phi Theta Kappa chapter on campus to your college president.
