Run For Regional and International Office

Ready to take your leadership skills to the next level? Consider campaigning for regional or international office.

Regional Office

Regional officers are critical to helping a region set and accomplish goals. Depending on the region, officer's responsibilities include but are not limited to:
  • Planning regional projects
  • Presiding at regional meetings
  • Speaking at chapter inductions
  • Communicating with chapter officers
  • Encouraging chapters to participate in Phi Theta Kappa programs
  • Serving as a resource for chapters
In exchange for these responsibilities, regional officers receive the following benefits:
  • Opportunity to attend the Regional Officer Academy at International Convention
  • Opportunity to attend a summer orientation program at the Society's Center for Excellence
  • Complimentary Chapter Resource Packet
  • Complimentary subscription to the Golden Key Newsletter and other important mailings from Headquarters
  • Opportunity to travel throughout the region
  • Opportunity to be nominated for the International Distinguished Regional Officer Award
  • Some regions also provide traveling funds to the International Convention and/or the International Honors Institute.

International Office

At the 86th International Convention in Minneapolis, Minnesota, chapter voting delegates will elect five new International Officers: International President, Division I Vice President, Division II Vice President, Division III Vice President and Division IV Vice President.

International Office is the highest position of student leadership in Phi Theta Kappa. International Officers preside at the International Convention and the International Honors Institute, present speeches and workshops at Society regional conferences and work closely with chapters in their division to promote the programs and goals of Phi Theta Kappa.

Serving as an International Officer is a serious commitment, which comes with many responsibilities; however, the rewards are many. In addition to the personal and professional development skills gained, International Officers also receive numerous tangible benefits, including:

  • A $2,000 scholarship and the International Officer pearl-accented lapel pin upon successful completion of their term in office
  • A $1,000 stipend to help cover personal officer-related expenses during their year in office
  • Travel and accommodation expenses to participate in all Headquarters-approved travel to regional conferences, International Convention and the International Honors Institute
If you're interested in Regional Office, you should:
  • Share your interest with your chapter advisor
  • Contact your Regional Coordinator for eligibility requirements
  • Seek out the current regional officers to get their input
