The "I's" Have It!

Dr. Augusta Julian, the President of Maysville Community and Technical College, offers the following three "I's" as advice to chapters seeking to build faculty and administrative support.

Inundate
Keep the administration and faculty informed on everything happening within the chapter. Provide fliers for upcoming events and display awards or thank you cards the chapter has received. Don't be shy about keeping key people informed about activities. Many will appreciate seeing the positive things that the chapter is doing and seek out opportunities to congratulate officers, members and prospective members.

Invite
Make sure the administration and faculty get invitations to events and activities. Send formal invitations, and follow up by extending a personal invitation when possible.

Include
Do the legwork to include administrators and faculty in chapter events. Don't leave it to chance! Check the college calendar for events that might prevent administrators or faculty from attending orientations or the induction ceremony, and get your activities on the calendar before other events begin filling the schedule.
