Michigan Region Sponsors "Auction for a Cure"
The Michigan Region raised more than $5,500 for the American Cancer Society in their first-ever Auction for a Cure held on January 8 in Livonia, Michigan. Planned by the 2004-05 Michigan regional officers as the regional service project, the event surpassed even their expectations. The evening brought out 120 people for dinner and a silent/live auction, and even garnered local television coverage. American Cancer Society representatives also served as guest speakers.
"Uniting as one, and coming together in the fight against cancer was the sole purpose behind this event," said Michigan Regional President Stacey Whipple, "and that is exactly what took place that evening."
