Tribute to the "King"

As part of their Honors Study Topic program on Popular Culture, two Mississippi chapters hosted an Elvis Presley Symposium on Presley's birthday, January 8, in his birthplace of Tupelo, Mississippi. Northeast Mississippi Community College and Itawamba Community College coordinated the event and invited chapters in the Mississippi/Louisiana and Alabama Regions to join them. The symposium featured speakers addressing the musical and cultural influences that shaped Presley's early life in Tupelo and Memphis, Tennessee, and the religious-like following Elvis has inspired worldwide.
