Surfing: Beyond the Wave
Another example of a great popular culture study includes the Phi Theta Kappa chapter at Caņada College in Redwood City, California. The members decided they wanted to learn more about the local surf culture, so they researched surfing language, surfing wear, the of surfing, the science of surfing, surf music and surf movies. They learned that surfing has had, and continues to have, deep and substantive effect popular culture. They hosted lecture series, "Surfing: Beyond the Wave," to increase their knowledge and to share that knowledge with others.
